We woke up bright and early to go to Tonel Sap Lake, this lake has over 40,000 Vietnamese living on it. Since they can’t own land they live on the boats and fish for a living.
Cambodia has been extremely hot this April and almost no rain has fallen, because of this the water level at the lake was very low. The lake looked more like a mud hole than a lake. We went to visit the Floating Vietnamese school, Nhi (translator) taught the children a song and Hoan taught them the story of Jesus calming the sea. One little boy had a bible and found the story Hoan was teaching in his bible. Kim handed out noodles to the children, such a treat for them. Kim’s heart is always touched when she visits the children on the lake. She would like to spend more time ministering to them but the drive to the lake is long and dangerous. Pray that she can find someone to drive her to the lake so she can go more often.
Men (Kim’s helper) is such an evangelist! During our boat ride, while we are all sight seeing, Men was sharing the gospel with a young boy who was helping the driver of our boat. He seized the moment to tell this young boy about Jesus..how cool is that!
In the afternoon our team had our last Life Skill class, teaching English and Computer. Kathie and Sandra did a great job teaching the children the English words for feelings using the emoticons.
We played our final football game, it is hard to find energy at the end of the day to run around a field chasing a ball, but God gives us strength! We took seven boys out for dinner, Lucky arcade and ice cream. Times spent with the smaller groups of children gives us opportunity to get to know them better. It is hard when you have 40 children clamouring for your attention.
We are thankful to God for another good day!!
Blessings from the team,
Leah
