It’s hard to believe one week has already gone by. Today after our morning team devotions, we had life skills classes for the children; computer class and English class. In English we’ve been going through the alphabet, having them learn the letters and then the sounds. They have even learnt the alphabet song. Computer class was all about Facebook safety/security.
In the afternoon we had an art class and our VBS lesson on “Love Your Enemies” given by Scott.
After each of our lessons we give the children dinner before we send them home. Many of the children come to us hungry, because their parents use what little they have to gamble and drink. So a great big thank you to all who supported our team financially, your dollars are helping to feed the kids.
Our day ended going into the city proper for dinner with Kim, our translators, and 3 of Kim’s students from Phnom Penn. What an experience that was! The crowds and cars. A 10 minute trip took an hour. Cambodia is in the middle of their New Year’s celebrations. A three day holiday with many festivities, along with a a lot of ancestor worship. Decorations and lights are everywhere, as well as spirit houses with food offerings to their dead ancestors. They expect one million visitors in Siem Reap over the holiday. One of the local traditions around the New Year celebration is getting doused with water then baby powder – that’s the explanation for the picture above 🙂
Good night all, early morning soccer game at 7am with the children comes too quickly.
