Another week as gone by so quickly. Still in need of rain, very dry in Southeast Asia! Pray God would send rain, especially for the farmers.
Monday Kim, Hoan, Nhi and myself went to the Thailand border for the girls to renew their visa (they had to go out of country and come back in). So thankful for God’s protection on the road, there were a few times I was clinging tightly to the dashboard of the truck.
Tuesday, I trained a new girl who came from the lake, her name is Nhi (she is very sweet and a hard worker), in housekeeping. On Tuesday’s and Friday’s every week I will train Nhi and Lieu. Nhi our translator will train them in cooking and shopping at the market. Pray the girls will work hard, will grasp all they are learning and that they will be able to use their skills. One of the girls will help Hong and Nguyen Tran (couple taking over while Kim is in Canada).
Tuesday afternoon Kim, Hoan, Nhi and myself had fun dressing up in Khmer costumes and then went to the wedding reception of Nhat’s (one of our youth) sister. It was my first Cambodian wedding reception, guests don’t eat at the same time, as soon as your table is full with guests the food comes out. There was a live band and singers, it was awesome!
Every afternoon from 2:00-4:00 (Tuesday – Saturday) we teach English and Vietnamese class. We are so excited that some children and youth who haven’t been coming for a long time have returned to learn Vietnamese! It’s wonderful, but pray we can manage the larger group!
Wednesday I took a group of youth to the Jungle Book 3D movie, it was their first time to be in a movie theatre and to watch 3D. They were so excited that everyone who entered the theatre was greeted with a resounding HELLO! Before we went to the movie I gave a brief synopsis of the story and told them who the main characters. They loved the movie and were able to follow the story line.
The children had 3 days off of school for the Kings Birthday. On Saturday we took a group swimming, they had so much fun and they’re improving on their swimming skills. Except poor Men, he gave us a scare, he almost drowned! He jumped in not realizing how deep the pool was (even though Bao warned him) he made it to the edge thank the Lord. It was scary because there is no way I would be able to pull him out and there was no buoy. So thankful for God’s protection over us!
Saturday’s we visited the Vietnamese communities, it’s a wonderful time to connect with the families! Nhi (the new girl from the lake) her father asked Hoan and Nhi to pray a blessing over their home and for the healing of their youngest child who is sick. This is so meaningful, I was praying so fervently for the Holy Spirit to come and fill their home and that by the name of Jesus that little one would be healed. They live in such a humble and basic home. So thankful for these opportunities to love on people in the name of Jesus.
Sunday’s are always busy, 7:00 football and volleyball, 9:00 Phsar Leu Church service, Life of Jesus teaching, I taught the children the story of the Centurion who amazed Jesus by his faith. It was Kim’s last Sunday with the children, lots of tears were shed and the children made beautiful cards for her. We had a time of communion with all the children and fed them a wonderful meal!
I have been feeling well, I just have a heat rash on my body! Pray for me as Kim will leave this Thursday evening for Canada and I will be fully responsible for the ministry to the children. It’s been a very good transition, Hoan. Nhi, Men and myself have been running everything for the past two weeks. Our biggest challenge will be dealing with the fighting, the children are so aggressive with each other.
Love you Summit! I’m loving the sermon series I AM!
Kim gave Nhi and Lieu a beautiful prayer of blessing! They worked so hard today – thank you Jesus for the opportunity to train these sweet girls!
